HTI Attends Smart-Grid Conference
Designers of the next generation power grid came together to discuss the multiple layers of technology required to deliver end-to-end smart grids. It starts with identifying standards which can be shared across the industry and used by product development teams as a standardized development platform capable of communicating with other products and services available on the grid. There are several standards already in existence today:
- National Institute of Standards and Technology - www.nist.gov/smartgrid/
In addition to the core boiler technology delivered by HTI's Dynamic Combustion Chamber, there are also several networking and control system components to the energy solutions we provide. By building an internet-based, cloud computing control system, HTI will provide customers with real-time production data and monitoring tools capable of integrating with other smart grid components. An example of the benefits to a customer is the industry-specific solution we offer for Real Estate. In the case of commercial or residential real estate, the landlord only has the ability to charge for rent. The other services such as heat (steam), gas and electricity are provided by others. In a world with hydrogen boilers connected to a smart-grid, a landlord can not only charge rent but also deliver distributed power which can be monitored and billed directly to the individual apartment or office. These kinds of end-to-end power solutions combined with smart-grid technology will be creating new and exciting opportunities throughout the energy complex.
